“HOVER” CHORAL ENSEMBLE

“Hover” choral ensemble was established within “Hover” State Chamber Choir. Leading singers of the choir, who are also orchestra musicians, consist the core of the group.

It started to appear in Europe as “Armenian Voices” since January 2012.

Gevorg Avetisyan is one of the leading flutists with experience of work in the Armenian Philharmonic, State Youth orchestras and Armenian Theatre of Opera and Ballet orchestra. Kim Sargsyan is a violinist of the lArmenian National Theater of Opera and Ballet. Edgar Varosyan is not only a singer, but also a pianist and makes arrangements. Vahagn Babloyan has sung in many choirs. He is an author of various choral songs arrangements. Artur Manukyan is an author-performer of songs and arrangements. The profession of Areg Ghahramanyan is conducting. He has led a choir group of one of the most famous ensembles of Armenia. It is noteworthy to mention the former members, such as Liparit Avetisyan, one of the leading singers of the Armenian National Theatre of Opera and Ballet and also he is a laureate of International competitions such as Concorso Internazionale di Musica Viotti, International Competition for Opera Singers “Maria Bieshu” and “Rosa Mira”, holder of the "Golden Mask" award.


The ensemble’s repertoire has several sets of Armenian music, which includes spiritual, folk and pearls of contemporary composers, Western European and Russian composers. The performance of composition “Ecloga VIII” by Penderecki was honored with the highest rating by a composer himself, who further dedicated to Hover a special work “Psalm III” . According to the program requirements, from time to time, the group has been supplemented with female voices among them Maria Sardaryan, Tatevik Danielyan and Narine Voskanyan. The Artistic Director of the ensemble was Honorary Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, Assistant Professor of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory Sona Hovhannisyan. She is the acting rector of YKSC since November 2018.


As “Armenian Voices” since 2012, it immediately stirred considerable interest among music connoisseurs appearing with concerts in France through Daktari Music Agency in Anger, Brest and Paris. Further, already as Hover Septet, they appeared in Germany at Internationale Domkonzerte St. Blasien and in Augsburg. It is important to mention successful appearance of the ensemble at the important concert halls: “Cite de la Music” in Paris, “Le Quartz” in Brest, in the National Concert Hall of Taipei and Nantu in the Republic of China (Taiwan). Hover Septet made impressive appearances at the Easter Festival of Valery Gergiev in Russia and regularly appears with concerts in Armenia.
